    2.About the Author
    3.Text-related Information
    1.Key to Exercises(Texts A,B&C),其中包括Responding to the Text,Vocabulary,Writing三大类练习的答案。
    2.Translation Exercises

    2. Romanticism
Romanticism is a style in the fine arts and literature. It emphasizes passion rather than reason, and imagination and intuition rather than logic. Romanticism favors full expression of the emotions, and free, spontaneous action rattier than restraint and order. In all these ways, romanticism contrasts with another style called classi- cism. Periods of romanticism often develop as a revolt against classicism. Artists and writers throughout history have shown romantic tendencies. The term "romantic movement" usually refers to the period from the late 1700s to the mid-1800s.
    3. Christian Jurgensen Thomsen (1788- 1865)
Danish archaeologist. He was one of the first to demonstrate that the vast history of humankind, before written records began, could be divided into a Stone Age, a Bronze Age, and an Iron Age. His interest in bringing this understanding to thc public led him to organize the world's first ethnographical museum, in Copenhagen, in 1846.
    4. Charles Robert Darwin (1809- 1882)
British naturalist who became famous for his theories on evolution. Like several other scientists before him, Darwin believed that, through millions of years, all spe- cies of plants and animals had evolved (dcvcloped gradually) from a few common an- cestors.
